Leaking, overheating, or simply not working

If your hot water cylinder is leaking, overheating or has stopped working altogether, we will target and repair the problem efficiently and cost effectively. Not every fault means a new cylinder. A failed element, a thermostat or a valve is a fraction of the cost, and we will tell you which one you are looking at before anything gets replaced.

When a repair is worth it, and when it is not

The honest answer usually comes down to age and where the water is coming from. A cylinder leaking from the fittings is often a straightforward fix. A cylinder leaking from the vessel itself has failed and no amount of work will bring it back. Somewhere in between sits a cylinder that still works but is old enough that you will be doing this again shortly, and that is a judgement call. We will give you our view and the numbers, and you decide.

Replacements and new installations

• Mains pressure and low pressure cylinders. We can offer advice as to which cylinder is best for your home's existing pipework and fittings.
• Continuous flow gas units. Worth considering where space is tight or the demand for hot water is variable.
• Sized to the household, not to habit. A cylinder that is too small means cold showers; one that is too big means heating water nobody uses.
• Servicing, including checking the relief valves that quietly do the safety work and are the part most often left alone until they fail.
